Lower school of the Gymnasium

The lower school of the Gymnasium follows on from class 6 at primary level or our preparatory classes and features, among other things, a familiar setting and manageable class sizes. The aim of the Gymnasium is to “provide students with fundamental knowledge with a view to lifelong learning and to promote their intellectual openness and the ability to make independent judgements” (Art. 5 of the Maturitätsanerkennungsreglement) (regulations governing recognition of the Matura), thereby enabling them to access all universities.

The lower school of the Gymnasium provides its students with a solid and broad educational foundation. Latin lessons provide a sound basis for understanding western culture and open up access to the fascinating world of antiquity. In addition, students are taught by subject teachers in German, French, English, mathematics, biology, chemistry, physics, history, geography, visual arts, music, religion, media and information technology and sport.

The small class sizes enable students to receive individual support and to develop self-confidence in their own intellectual abilities. In addition to professional development, educational guidance and support for students is of key importance.
