Study supervision and individual support

FGZ offers study support after lessons – in larger or smaller groups, depending on preference.

In addition to the lessons, the FGZ offers a range of support and care services tailored to the individual needs of the pupils. The offer includes study supervision, individual encouragement and individual coaching as well as a supervised quiet workspace where the pupils can concentrate on their learning and do their homework.

Information and costs

Study supervision

During study supervision, our pupils can work in a supervised, educational setting and do their homework or prepare for exams in a concentrated and efficient manner. They receive help from teachers and students and can discuss problems and questions with their classmates during supervision. Study supervision also supports the pupils in organising their learning and working behaviour and helps them to shape their extracurricular learning increasingly independently.

Framework conditions

Study supervision is from Monday to Friday after lessons and comprises two 40-minute lessons. The offer is for pupils in preparatory classes as well as classes 1 to 3. Groups of two or four are offered. Whenever possible, the groups are composed in such a way that pupils from the same class can work together. Occasionally, classroom assistants may be absent at short notice due to illness. In such cases, we reserve the right to merge groups of two into groups of four. If groups of four cannot be completed, we reserve the right to reduce the group size accordingly. Pupils who are repeatedly disruptive during the lessons may be excluded from further participation. In the first and last week of the semester, study supervision takes place only on request.

Costs
(per semester and day of the week)

Groups of 4 (2, 40-minute lessons): CHF 750

Groups of 3 (2, 40-minute lessons): CHF 875

Groups of 2 (2, 40-minute lessons): CHF 1,000

Registration

Registration is via QR code or link and, if there is no deregistration at the end of the first semester up to 31 January, remains valid for the entire school year. Registrations during the semester are possible on request.

Individual support and individual coaching

Individual support

For pupils who require targeted support in a particular subject, we provide qualified tutors from all disciplines who support the pupils efficiently and in line with their individual needs. The aim of individual support is for the pupils to improve their performance in the relevant subject and gain motivation and self-confidence. The focus is on engaging with the subject, which also serves to promote independence. To achieve the most effective results, a close link between individual support and classroom teaching is a great advantage. Our tutors are therefore in contact with the in-house subject teachers and can address the precise difficulties that come up in the classroom. Once a quarter, pupils and parents receive an assessment from our tutors, in which they define what has been achieved and what still needs to be done.

Individual coaching

Individual coaching is for pupils who do not primarily need support in a specific subject, but with how they organise their learning. It teaches learning and self-management strategies in an interdisciplinary format and pursues the aim of ensuring that pupils acquire the ability as quickly as possible to organise their learning independently and successfully.

Framework conditions

Individual support and coaching take place outside class at set times in FZG classrooms. The programme is for pupils from classes 1 to 6. Individual supervision is only provided for pupils in the preparatory classes in exceptional cases and after consultation with the class teacher. Whenever possible, both individual support and individual coaching should be of limited duration and should not take place permanently in parallel with regular tuition in a specific subject. With this in mind, we offer our pupils an assessment of their current situation once a quarter in which the next steps are determined.

Costs

The prices for a 40-minute individual lesson vary depending on the tutor’s qualifications:

FGZ pupils in their Matura year: CHF 45

Students up to bachelor level: CHF 50

Students from bachelor level: CHF 72

University graduates: CHF 92

If you are unable to attend, you must cancel the individual lesson 24 hours before the start of the lesson. In the event of short-term illness, this must be done by 8.30 a.m. on the same day at the latest, otherwise you will be charged for the lesson.

Registration

You can register for individual support or coaching at any time. The scope of the individual coaching is determined at the beginning of the collaboration and the collaboration can be terminated at any time.
