At FGZ the subject Mathematics is taught as a basic subject, as well as as a core subject and a supplementary subject in combination with Physics.

Mathematics lessons promote a deeper understanding of mathematics and its applications while forming the general foundations, skills and attitudes for transfer to higher education. This is achieved, on the one hand, by teaching the subject as an independent science; on the other hand, by building mathematical models and studying their references to reality. As a contribution to general education, the ability to imagine space, independent logical thinking, the sensible use of technical aids, the precise use of language and the ability to think abstractly are promoted on the basis of mathematical structures and models.
